SEPIA COFFEE
CLIENT: Sepia Coffee Project
LOCATION: Highland Park, MI
YEAR: expected 2026
Design in process for the new roasting facility and espresso bar for The Sepia Coffee Project, a black-owned Detroit- and Highland Park-based coffee roastery. Sepia Coffee has a focus on engaging with and uplifting local culture and narratives, creating robust international networks, and expanding diversity and equity within the coffee scene in Detroit.

The design employs natural materials, neutral colors, and rich textures to create a warm and inviting environment space. Patinaed plaster walls, warm-toned woodwork, and earthen tile countertops come together to create a balance of raw and refined design that speaks to the hands-on artisanal process of coffee growing, production, roasting, and service. Designed with inclusivity and community at its center, the Sepia Coffee experience brings people together through both physical space and connection to provide an inclusive platform for coffee consumers and enthusiasts throughout Metro-Detroit.
