LOWERTOWN
CLIENT: LOWERTOWN PROPER
LOCATION: ANN ARBOR, MI
YEAR: 2023
‍An old garage and barbershop transformed into an industrial chic bar, cafe, and beer garden in Ann Arbor's Lowertown neighborhood. The raw garage is reinvigorated while recalling its history: cozy leather booths, lush plants, and a monolithic terrazzo bar strike a balance between industrial and inviting. Bold color blocking, crisp lines, and bright powder coated fixtures create a playful vintage aesthetic. The parking lot is reimagined as a courtyard with a pergola - coming soon in summer 2024! -, plants, tables, and fire pits, with walk-up service through flip up window in one of the old garage door openings.
Maple millwork and channel-tufted booths with a radiused corner bring a warm tactile touch to the industrial space
The design evokes the Lowertown brand down to the details, including the monogrammed shelf joinery by MacInnis Millwork
